Shelly makes it official with Steve

Bride and Groom

Shelly's Version of our Love Story: Steve & I met on a cruise in 2009. My awesome friend Dijana spotted some good looking fellas (one of them was Steve) at the bar & decided to talk to them. We all got along pretty well, but I kinda didn't like Steve, even though he was in love with me. After our vacation we all stayed in touch through Facebook & visited here & there. Steve would text me every time he came to Chicago on a business trip, but I could never find time to hang out with him *cough cough*. Steve realized he was going to have to move to Chicago if he wanted to see me again, so that's what he did! I couldn't make excuses anymore & after years of him begging me I finally made time to hang out with him. The first night we met up, it was like meeting him for the first time & I instantly had a crush on him. I spent all those years not recognizing the great guy that he is (silly me), but it all worked out for the best because here we are now getting married!

Steve's Version of our Love Story: What she said.

Shelly

Shelly is a feisty little thing with a strong pride for her hometown Chicago. She is a very kind (except to Steve), generous, hard-working & ambitious woman. A fully-functional math nerd that enjoys playing video games (the really violent ones), eating Mexican food (she only tries new food in front of Steve to try to impress him), traveling, outdoorsy things, cuddling with Chase (her puppy/baby) & showing off her new ring bling.

Steve

Steve is an IT dork with a great head of hair, an impressive sense of style, & an awesome personality. He was born & raised in Cincinnasti (as Shelly likes to call it) & moved to Chicago over 3 years ago. Steve LOVES playing soccer, watching soccer & talking about soccer. He also loves playing FIFA, trying new foods/restaurants, traveling, shopping a ridiculous amount on Amazon, & watches.

Wedding Details

Our big day is located in Chicago, Illinois. The venue for our wedding is Ignite Glass Studios. This is in fact a glass blowing studio so remember to take the time to enjoy the lovely glass sculptures at the front of the store.

  • Pre-Ceremony drinks will be served at 5PM
  • The Ceremony will begin at 5:30PM
  • Cocktail hour with passed hors d'oeuvres will take place from 6PM to 7PM
  • Dinner will begin at 7PM
  • Dancing is required & will go on from 8:30PM to 12AM
  • This will be open bar! Yay!

Other Things to Know:

  • Parking: There should be plenty of parking on the street & there will be a designated parking lot across the street from the venue, but we recommend carpooling, if possible. Please look for signs.
  • Hotel Accommodations: We have blocked off several rooms at the Embassy Suites on 511 N Columbus Dr, Chicago, IL 60611. Please book early as there are only a certain number of rooms available. If you are having trouble booking, please use the Contact Us form below for assistance.
  • To be honest, traffic can really suck around here so if you think you've added enough extra time to get to the venue, maybe add a little more.
  • For out of town guests, take a look at our Chicago Area section for some great ideas. If you need other recommendations of things to do or places to eat, just ask us, we've got plenty!
  • Take a night off from parenthood & enjoy your time in Chicago. It's not personal, but please ADULTS (21+) ONLY!

Sincerely,
Shelly and Steve

Our Honeymoon

After a phenomenal evening of celebrating with our friends & family, we only get 1 full day to rest before our honeymoon adventures begin. We will be heading to our honeymoon Sunday evening & returning on the 20th of September.

We will make a 2 day pit stop in Munich, Germany to explore the wonderful beers. Our next stop will be South Africa! Our first 4 days will be spent in Cape Town. Our hotel, 52 De Wet, sits along Lion's Head Mountain & overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. We have plans to explore the city of Cape Town & all the beauty it has to offer. On day 3 we will set sail on the ocean & jump into shark cages to get up close & personal with some Great Whites! We heard they like to be scratched behind their ears - we will soon find out. ☺ Once we depart Cape Town, we will travel to Kruger National Park. Here we have 2 different full excursion safaris set up. We will start at Kirkman's Kamp & finish up the trip at Ngala Lodge. We will do 2 safaris per day, along with a daily bush walk.

We are both beyond excited to see some wild animals in their natural habitat...I just hope they are well fed before we go on our adventure. This won't be the most relaxing vacation or honeymoon & the flights to get to these locations will be dreadful, but we both agree that it will be well worth it! We are looking forward to it & can't wait to share all the exciting pictures! Instead of a traditional wedding gift, you can help us pay for this amazing trip instead by clicking on the donate button below. Thank you!!!
